Thank you to the guests and chefs who made our 2016 Relais & Chateaux Gourmet Sensation a huge success. We would particularly like to thank Chefs Niall Keating from Restaurant Kong Hans Kaelder in Copenhagen and Nino Mosca from Il Bottaccio in Forte di Marmi for making the long journey and contributing so much. The Croatian team also did a superb job. Thank you to Chef Andrej Barbieri from Hotel Bevanda, chefs Danijela Pifar and Bojan Vukovic from Wine Hotel Meneghetti, and, of course, our own team led by Toni Erceg. Thank you also to Maksimilijan Garden for hosting the after party, which went on until 6.30 in the morning!
From 21st to 28th May LD Restaurant will be holding a celebration of Spring time in Dalmatia and the abundant spring produce. The week will commence with a charity dinner in aid of the local Liga Protiv Raka (League against Cancer) to celebrate the new wines launched by Croatian producers, with thirteen wines from eleven producers paired with local seasonal foods and olive oils in a special celebratory menu designed by Executive Chef Toni Erceg. Throughout the week a special seasonal menu will be offered paired with new season wines.
Saturday 21st May - Pošip and Friends
We will host a charity dinner with a special tasting menu highlighting spring produce in aid of the local league against cancer. All proceeds from the dinner will go to the charity. The wine list will include the finest local wines made from the Pošip grape, as well as Leo Gracin’s excellent red Babić and powerful red Plavac Mali wines the Peljesac Peninsula. The evening will be hosted by Luka Krajančić, maker of fine Pošip wines together with his wine making friends. The menu including wines will be priced at HRK 500.
Wednesday 25th May - Saints Hills cooks at LD
Our good friends from Oskorusno, Pelješac, home of the outstanding Saints Hills winery will present a menu of seasonal local food paired with their award winning wines. The menu will consist of five courses paired with six wines for a price of HRK 525 including wine.
Thursday 26th May - Meneghetti cooks at LD
The highly regarded team from Wine Hotel Meneghetti in Bale, Istria, will cook with the LD team for the third time. The six course meal will include three courses from each team. The Meneghetti team will present three courses of specialities from Istria, while the LD team will present Dalmatian specialities. The six course meal with fine wines from Stancia Meneghetti, Korcula, and the Peljesac will cost HRK 600.
Saturday 28th May - Gourmet Spectacular
On Saturday 28th May we will bring together for the first time five chefs from different Relais et Chateaux properties who will cook specially prepared dishes thoughout the day in each of the different Residences in the Palace. This spectacular event, bringing together five of Europe’s finest chefs, will be a first for Croatia and for the Relais et Chateaux family of restaurants and hotels.
