Korta Katarina Winery - Wine Tales of Korčula & Pelješac

The Korta Katarina Winery is located in a region renowned for its culture, seaports, and winemaking traditions that date back to the Roman Empire. For centuries, "kortas" were the center of family gatherings for sea captains and sailors embarking on world adventures.

Lee and Penny Anderson traveled in 2001 to Croatia and fell in love with the scenic and architectural beauty of southern Croatia, its strong cultural heritage, fine cuisine, and, to their surprise, the wine!

Lee and Penny’s long-time passion for wine (they are Original Trustees of the Naples Winter Wine Festival in Naples, Florida) and their newfound passion for Croatia inspired them to establish Korta Katarina.

Two of the most famous positions for Plavac Mali on Pelješac, or pretty much anywhere, are naturally Dingač and Postup. Korta Katarina winery bought and restored 6 hectares of vineyards on those positions, and rebuilt an old hotel complex nearby, with a state-of-the-art wine cellar.

Plavac Mali, the most popular and economically important red wine grape in Croatia, is the main variety in Korta Katarina vineyards.

Recently, their commitment to the winery and villa was rewarded with membership in the prestigious Relais & Châteaux association.
